Committee Procedures and Responsibilities
A. Summer: Select committee members (approximately 4-6)
B. November:
- Pass a basket during the General Membership meeting for
scholarship fund donations. It is to be sent to FREF by the Treasurer.
- Contact the guidance counselors at eligible high schools by phone
alerting them to the availability of a scholarship for high school
seniors who want to be future teachers.

C. Send packets to each high school guidance counselor. Packets contain
one copy of each of the following (and may be copied at schools:
- Introduction
- Flyer to post
- Explanation of scholarship conditions
- Scholarship application (s)
D. January:
- Applications are received by January 15th
- Reviewed by committee
- Selection of one applicant to be sent to state
- Interview candidate
- Complete materials for submission
E. February:
- Send the packet of forms for submission to state for scholarship
consideration.
F. April
- Pass a basket during the General Membership meeting for
scholarship fund donations. It is to be sent to FREF by the Treasurer.
- Receive information back from the State
- Contact applicant
- Prepare for May luncheon by asking applicant to speak a few words
- Invite all scholarship recipients to May luncheon
- Contact State about receiving scholarship checks
G. May:
- Make sure that all scholarship recipients and parents are invited
to luncheon and have been asked to speak. Have checks ready for
applicants and hand out at luncheon.
H. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Pass basket for additional scholarship funds at November and
April meetings
- At each meeting from November to May, sell chances for DOLLARS
FOR SCHOLARS events as determined by State
- Compile data, fill out annual report to State, keep apprised of
changes in scholarship information, encourage members to place FREF in
their wills and other responsibilities as determined by state and local
chapter.
