Attached is the application for membership in LWREA, the Leon Wakulla Retired Educators Association.  We are a part of the Florida REA, the only organized group in Florida that looks after your Retirement fund by monitoring quarterly meetings where investment activities and their results are reported. FREA also has active lobbying each year to protect the interests of retirees in the Florida Retirement System. 

The bill which created the Health Insurance Subsidy (up to $150/ month in your retirement check) was named after the FREA Legislative Chair at that time, and the annual 3 percent Cost of Living Adjustment, COLA, was in part the result of FREA lobbying; this is a very important part of your retirement benefit.  Additionally, FREA offers several group insurance plans which are very good buys for many members.

LWREA meets once a month from September to May at Envision Credit Union on North Monroe Street.  We have informative talks on topics of importance to retirees and people in general, and we have fun social activities. Come join us and see some old friends, as well.
 
This year we were able to give three graduating seniors a college scholarship, AND, a local student was awarded a State scholarship from FREA.
