Informative
and Protective Services Committee
Procedures and Responsibilities
The purpose of the Informative and
Protective Services Committee is to promote the well-being of retired
educators by helping them obtain the services and information they need
to solve, or avoid financial and personal problems. This committee
serves mainly as a source of information on available services.
The LWREA Informative and Protective Services Chairperson should be
appointed by the Unit President. The chairperson selects two (2) to
four (4) committee members. These members need to be enthusiastic,
concerned for the welfare of others and interested in finding
information to meet the needs of unit members.
The purposes of the local unit is to:
1. Carry out the
primary purposes of the state Informative and Protective Services
Committee.
2. Survey the needs of LWREA members in the area of Informative and
Protective Services. List the most urgent problems and organize
activities to meet their needs. Update list as needed.
3. Develop a working plan with suggested activities, programs and
projects.
4. Update information and make it available to members.
5. Assist members with special problems or needs by directing them to
resources and/or agencies who will assist them.
6. Cooperate with other committees on the aspect of Informative and
Protective Services that relates to their work.
7. Seek the help and cooperation of local community service agencies
such as Council on Aging, Community Colleges, Bank Officers,
Counselors, Medical Personnel and Others.
8. Set up a means of evaluating projects and activities. Replant and
update as necessary.
9. Obtain needed information and help from FREA Protective Services
Chairperson and District Protective Services Committee Members.
